BACON WRAPPED DATES WITH MAPLE BBQ GLAZE

THIS WAS A HARD RECIPE FOR US TO SHARE... IT'S VERY CLOSE TO OUR HEARTS BECAUSE IT'S A CROWD PLEASER NO MATTER WHO YOU'RE SERVING IT TO. WE CATERED MANY, MANY EVENTS AND EVERYONE WANTED THIS RECIPE. SO HERE IT IS, WE'RE FINALLY READY TO SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD!

BACON WRAPPED DATES

INGREDIENTS
:
1 LB BACON
8OZ PITTED DATES
1/2 LB GROUND PORK
1/4 CUP IT SAUCE (or other mild hot sauce would be ok)
1/2 CUP MAPLE SYRUP

STEPS:
1. WITH A PAIRING KNIFE, SLICE OPEN ALL DATES FROM END TO END SO YOU CAN BUTTERFLY THEM OPEN TO EXPOSE THE INSIDE.
2. STUFF ALL DATES WITH GROUND PORK
3. WRAP ALL STUFFED DATES WITH BACON (2 DATES PER SLICE)
4. SPACE THEM OUT ON A SHEET TRAY, ENOUGH SO AIR CAN GET AROUND THE SIDES OF EACH DATE.
5. PUT IN A 375 DEGREE OVEN FOR 20 MINUTES OR UNTIL BACON IS OF DESIRED CRISPNESS.
6. MIX IT SAUCE AND MAPLE SYRUP IN A BOWL, BRUSH OVER DATES BEFORE SERVING.
ENJOY!

  • I just found out about this sauce. Love your story. If the label on my sauce isn’t “perfect” I’ll smile in homage to your daughter. Today’s Nashville Tennessean includes my favorite section – TASTE. They included your bacon wrapped date recipe which looks and sounds delicious. I’ll be making them and some of your other recipes as soon as I get the bottles of sauce I just ordered. Really looking forward to trying this out.
